This small stream in Smiljan near the church had a significant impact on the later work of Nikola Tesla.
While he enjoyed watching the water turn his little wheels, little Nikola thought about how to utilize the power of this stream. He pondered more about harnessing water power when he saw many Plitvice waterfalls. Even as a child, he fully understood that great power lay in waterfalls, which could be harnessed.
Later, when he was a student, he learned about the Niagara Falls in America, the largest waterfall in the world, and that it was not yet harnessed.
