Books written by or about Nikola Tesla

IN SEARCH OF NIKOLA TESLA at the end of the electrical rainbow. Or could Tesla's pronouncements and predictions have been based on a fiction? Had the brilliant young inventor turned into a peddler of fraudulent dreams? The answers to these questions take us into curious and unexplored territory, for until a few years ago Tesla's plan for worldwide broadcast power had been forgotten, buried beneath a stack of patents and articles which date from the turn of the century. I, as a scientist, had barely heard of Tesla's name and knew virtually nothing about his life. One day, however, a curious set of circumstances forced me to reach into that mass of yellowing patents and examine a claim which had all the appearance of science fiction. I was asked to test the feasibility of Nikola Tesla's vision of the future. In doing so I came across something even more surprising, the claim that Tesla's devices had already been built in Russia. If this was true then the dream had turned into a nightmare, for there were rumours that this technology was being used to change the world's weather and exert some curious form of mind control over sections of the earth's population. The stories I unearthed seemed even more fantastic than anything Tesla could have dreamed up but I had been offered a challenge and I had accepted. Now I was to reach back from my position in the twentieth century and touch the mind of a genius whose greatest invention had been made almost a hundred years earlier. In many ways this task was to become the culmination of my own scientific ventures. I felt that I was ideally suited to meet such an adversary as Nikola Tesla. 11
