Nikola Tesla Books
IN SEARCH OF NIKOLA TESLA ed outwards into the Explicate as words, musical notes or algebraic relationships. Could Tesla have tapped into this Implicate world? Did, as a result of his deep passion, the archetype of electricity reveal its inner implicate to him. As a result of this merging of horizons, Tesla may well have been able to receive visions of explicate electrical forms â his motors, transformers and so on. Knowledge within the Body The physicist David Bohm also comes to mind in another way. He once told me that he felt there were two ways a person could learn about the natural world. One was by looking outward; for example doing experiments in the laboratory. In this way nature's laws are revealed to us. But the other way was by looking inward. After all, he said, the matter of which his own body was composed was identical to the matter spread out through the cosmos. Therefore the laws of the cosmos were also contained within his own body and in some way it should be possible to have access to them. As a younger man he had talked to Einstein who described his own thinking as involving a series of muscular tensions. The same applied to Bohm who once described various sensations of movement within the body that resolved themselves into an idea or equation in physics. With others it is possible that such movements could trasform themselves into a stanza of poetry or a musical sonata. With a David Bohm they appeared as mathematics. (With the recent publication of the letters between Jung and Pauli we learn how mathematical equations also appeared to Pauli during his dreams.) So let us return to Tesla. Were his inventions the result of an active unconscious that worked out circuit diagrams in the inventor's sleep? Did he access within his own body the laws and principles that govern the interaction of electricity and matter? Or did he perhaps reach a realm that lies beyond our world, some transcendent ground to matter and mind, cosmos and consciousness? In the end we are left only with questions. 153
