Nikola Tesla Letters
November 18th, 1899 letter from George Scherff to Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla, Esq.,

Dear Mr. Tesla:
The work of the shop to-day is on the castings and disk of the new oscillator and on overhauling the old one. The condenser for the latter has been built up as far as there was mica, of which there was still not a sufficient quantity to complete the condenser. Mr. Uhlman thinks it will require about six pounds more of mica to finish it. This would cost about $36, and in view of the great expense he hesitates to go ahead on it and asks whether or not he should do so. He says he can see no way of using smaller sheets of mica and building the condenser more economically.
I inclose statement of the expenses of the past week. I have drawn $125 from the Chatham Bank.
Respectfully,
Geo. Scherff
