We are indebted to AWA member, Leland Anderson, for making available in a most interesting form the text, with illustrations, of The Streams of Lenard and Roentgen and Novel Apparatus for Their Production. This important lecture was delivered by Tesla before The New York Academy of Sciences the year following the publication of Roentgen's work on X-rays. In addition to the lecture. Anderson has included three very interesting Tesla documents:
The first is the paper: Wireless Telegraphy Receiving Methods; Advances in Electrical Oscillations; Experimental Vacuum Bulbs. The second is Tesla's letter of May 1, 1897. to the editor of the Electrical Review, titled "The Hurtful Actions of Lenard and Roentgen Tubes." The third is a letter dated Aug. 9. 1897, also to the editor of Electrical Review, titled "The Source of Roentgen Rays and the Practical Construction and Safe Operation of Lenard Tubes." This last letter was prompted when Tesla became aware that precautions suggested in his previous communications were being disregarded, "and cases of injury ... are being almost daily recorded."
Some interesting biographical information about Tesla and his early life is presented in the author's preface.
