Nikola Tesla’s press agent seems to be working again. The newspapers throughout the country are printing a paragraph about the absorption of the inventor in his work. It is said that he equals Edison, as he will enter his workshop in the morning and remain there without food until midnight, so intense is his concentration on the problems which he is striving to solve. Not many months ago a different story was told. The waiting public was informed that he dined every night at the Waldorf Astoria. A special table was reserved for him in a corner of the dining room, and he took his seat at it at 8 o’clock with precise regularity. He ordered an elaborate dinner with two or three kinds of wine, one of which was always champagne. He ate until 9 o’clock and then disappeared. It was said that the activity of his mind was such that he found it necessary to eat a great deal to compensate for its consumption of the vital tissues. But whatever may be his habits of eating, Tesla is an interesting character.
