Establishment of a âNikola Teslaâ Medal
The Presidency of the Council of Academies of Science and Arts of Yugoslavia at its meeting on 26 November, 1975 discussing a proposal on establishing a âNikola Teslaâ Medal, concluded:
âThe proposal submitted by the Executive Committee of the Organizational Committee for the Celebration of Nikola Tesla at the Yugoslav Academy of Science and Arts for instituting a âNikola Teslaâ Medal is hereby adopted. The Medal would he awarded by the Council of the Academies of Science and Arts of Yugoslavia every year to a Yugoslav scientist who distinguishes himself by special achievement in the field of engineering.
In order to put this action into effect the Council of the Academies at its next plenary meeting will discuss this question and give its agreement to the proposal of the founders and the support of the Presidency.â
1976 - Nikola Tesla Year
The Yugoslav Federal Assembly, on the proposal of the Croatian Sabor, has proclaimed the year 1976 as Nikola Tesla Year. (See the Yugoslav Official Gazette No. 9 of 5 March, 1976).
The Law Concerning the Proclamation of 1976 as Nikola Tesla Year
The Law proclaiming 1976 as Nikola Tesla Year adopted by the Yugoslav Federal Assembly was passed at a meeting of the Federal Council on 27 February, 1976.

Extracts from the Law Proclaiming 1976 as Nikola Tesla Year
Article 1
In order to promote and develop scientific and technical creative work and invention, the year 1976 - the year of celebrations marking the 120th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest scientists and inventors in the history of the peoples and nationalities of Yugoslavia and the world whose work contributed to the general development of science and civilization, - is proclaimed as Nikola Tesla Year.
Article 2
Workers in organizations of associated labour and in work communities, and working people and citizens in ether self-management organizations and communities, and in socio-political and other social organizations and associations of citizens shall by their own self-management decisions decide how to mark Nikola Tesla Year.
Article 3
A committee for the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla (in further text âthe Committeeâ) is set up as a social body for promoting and correlating activities and action designed to mark Nikola Tesla Year.
