Nikola Tesla Patents
J mitting the impulses, some thing that is not and cannot well be effected by a commutator. This is brought out by claims 7 and 11 in addition to other distinguishing features, but was probably not observed by the Examiner. We recognize, of course, the imperative necessity of presenting claims in terms that do not include what is old in the arts, and this requirement we have carefully sought to comply with. In the case of an invention like the present, however, the mere language of claims is apt to mislead unless carefully scrutinized, and this is true in this instance, and necessarily SO. We believe, however, that a reconsideration of this application in the light of the suggestions herein, will result in a decision on the merits more favorable to the applicant.
