Great Electric Work for Tesla

Work has commenced in Brooklyn upon the largest electrical power-house in the world, which when completed will have at its head Nikola Tesla. The new concern, which will be known as the Kings County Electric Light and Power Company, has at its head Vice-President Hobart, former Gov. Flower, D. O. Mills and Pierpont Morgan.

The company starts in with the promise not only of a large share of contracts for illumination, but also the supply of current to the various electric and elevated railroads.

Tesla has given his backers practical proof that he can build dynamos that will run at the before unthought-of high potential of 100,000 volts. Transformers will be used so that the light.ng systems will still be 110 volts, while that of the railroads will remain at 550 volts. The present difficulty of lost current through grounds it is said will be almost entirely overcome by Tesla's method of insulation, of which ofl plays an important part.

The plans as laid before the railroad companies controlling their own plant Is that Tesla's company shall supply them with power at a less cost than they can produce it, and then purchase their plants. This would give the new concern power houses at Williamsburg. South Brooklyn, Red Hook Point, Ridgewood. Woodhaven and Parkville, in addition to the one they are now building on the river front between Gold and Bridge streets.
