It's with much sadness that I must inform you that another of the great Tesla proponents has passed on. Dr. Ljubomir Vujović, president of the Tesla Memorial Society from New York, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 surrounded by his family in the village of Komarno (Montenegro).

Dr. Ljubomir Vujović made great efforts to see that Tesla receives the credit he deserves for his accomplishments in furthering technology for all mankind. Dr. Ljubomir Vujović was instrumental in the establishment of Nikola Tesla Corner as well as the Nikola Tesla plaques adorning The New Yorker Hotel and the The Radio Wave Building.

Below is an English translation of his obituary:

Dr. Vujović was a doctor, writer, film producer and one of the leading figures of the Tesla movement in America. His long-term volunteer work was aimed at preserving the memory of the character and work of Nikola Tesla and will never be forgotten. He worked tirelessly as a doctor at New York's Metropolitan Hospital for over 50 years.

He dedicated his free time to Tesla: he cooperated with the leaders of the city of New York, providing them with the necessary documents and information for placing the sign "Nikola Tesla CORNER" on the corner of 6th Avenue and 40th Street.

Thanks to him, on July 10, 2001, a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the New Yorker Hotel in Manhattan. The plaque was made in 1977, but due to political reasons it could not be placed. Dr. Vujović was assisted in this work by the Serbian Orthodox Church and many prominent individuals. After 24 years, the plaque was placed and today it stands on the hotel where Tesla lived from 1933 to 1943.

Dr. Vujović was the editor of the website of the Tesla Memorial Association teslasociety.com. This site contains a lot of information, photos and documents about Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin, Mileva Marić ... and it was visited by almost 3 million people.

Dr. Vujović is the author of an extensive book in two volumes "Tribute to Tesla" (Recognition of Tesla), which contains many illustrations and documents about the magnificent genius. He initiated and was extremely active in the largest research project about Nikola Tesla called: "Tesla collection".

He is the author of the documentary film: "Nikola Tesla, the Genius Who Lit the World", which was made in cooperation with the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade. The film received international recognition as the world's best documentary about Tesla. The film is in English, but it has been translated into German, French and Serbian and has been shown on various TV stations around the planet. He is the author of numerous articles dedicated to Tesla, and he also participated in many TV, radio and newspaper interviews that focused on Tesla's work, but also Serbian culture.

He also produced the documentaries "From Immigrant to Inventor about Mihail Pupin" and "Kingdom of Montenegro".

Awards

In the 1970s, he was active in helping the Yugoslav Association of Physicians and many hospitals in Yugoslavia, with treatments and drugs for cancer. He specialized in hematology and oncology at that time. Dr. Vujović received the "The City Coucil Citation" award for his medical work in New York. The dedication is engraved on the award: "Dr. Vujović is a prominent citizen worthy of praise and gratitude of this council and the citizens of New York." In addition to this award, Dr. Vujović proudly wore the medal he received from the Republican Party of America, the Order from Tito for merits in the treatment of cancer, from the Government of Serbia and Vojislav Kostunica for work on the promotion of Nikola Tesla.

July 10 - National Science Day in Serbia and Republika Srpska

Thanks to Dr. Vujović and the initiative of the Tesla Memorial Society from New York in early 2010, we sent a proposal to Božidar Đelić, then Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Science and Technology, to declare Tesla's birthday July 10 as National Science Day in Serbia. joy and done. In Serbia, for the first time in 2011, the National Science Day was established and marked, July 10, the day of Nikola Tesla's birth.

The same proposal was sent to the Government of Republika Srpska in early February 2020 - Mr. Milorad Dodik, Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH and Mrs. Zeljka Cvijanovic, President of Republika Srpska - initiating that Tesla's birthday on July 10 be declared National Science Day in Republika Srpska.

Unfortunately, Dr. Vujović "moved" to his and our Tesla, and the answer from the Government of Republika Srpska did not arrive, but the members of the Tesla Memorial Society from New York will continue to work, following the example of dear Dr. Ljubomir Ljubo Vujović.

He had his last TV appearance on RTCG in June 2021, when he hosted journalists in his old family house in the village of Komarno, which he remodeled and turned into a small Tesla Museum and the Tesla Memorial Society from New York - a branch for Montenegro. There are numerous Tesla pictures and photographs, as well as journalistic texts written by Tesla more than 100 years ago.
