3 Immigrants Receive Awards

Prof. Frankfurter, Tesla and Martinelli Honored by Institute

Three immigrants who made good in widely divergent fields in this country received the Third Annual Awards of Merit of the National Institute of Immigrant Welfare in a ceremony at the Hotel Biltmore last night.

They are Felix Frankfurter, native of Vienna, professor of law at Harvard, who is credited with wide influence in the Roosevelt administration; Dr. Nikola Tesla, native of what is now Yugoslavia, inventor who has influenced substantially the development of the use of electric power, and Giovanni Martinelli, native of Italy, one of the greatest living tenors.

Dr. Tesla, who is eighty-one and has not fully recovered from an automobile accident six months ago, was unable to be present. His award was received for him by Dr. Paul R. Radosavljevich of New York University.
