Sun Emits Super Ray, Nikola Tesla Asserts
FINDS SUPER RAY
Planets Send Out Impulses Which May Change an Individual's Course of Life — Interplanetary Communication Possible

A super-cosmic ray far more penetrating than any of the cosmic rays now being studied emanates from the sun, according to Nikola Tesla, the famous scientist, electrical engineer and inventor.
The cosmic rays, penetrating 14 feet of lead, now being studied are merely a secondary radiation produced by the super cosmic ray when they impinge on cosmic dust scattered throughout space, declares Dr. Tesla.
A great deal of effort has been spent by many scientists in this country and Europe in trying to locate the source of the cosmic rays. They seem to come from all parts of the heavens with equal intensity.
Generated Out of Space
The reason they come with equal intensity from all parts of space is due to the fact that they are generated out in space, each quanta of the cosmic ray coming from a dust particle which has been struck by the super cosmic ray from the sun.
Dr. Tesla states that his discovery is not at all recent but dates back to 1897. His announcement at that time was quite premature as far as public interest was concerned. At that time the newspapers did not publish science news and when some item did get in it was usually so inaccurately presented that scientists fought shy of having their work mentioned.
Dr. Tesla would refer only briefly to the matter when I saw him recently in connection with other phases of his work even more startling. He is very careful about interviews and will talk for publication only at rare intervals and then only if his statements are taken down verbatim. His statement concerning the super-cosmic ray follows:
"In 1897 I had satisfied myself that the phenomena of radio activity could but be explained on the assumption of a very powerful cosmic radiation so penetrating that we could not devise a screen for it. This cosmic radiation. I concluded, must come from the sun.
"The radiation which the earth receives from the stars is but one-four hundredth of that which the sun pours on the earth.
"Results which I secured provided knowledge of the fact that there is such a cosmic radiation, and most wonderful are some of its properties.
"One of these is the generation throughout the universe of secondary radiation by impact against the particles of cosmic dust which fill all space. Each particle is just like the target in a Roentgen X-ray tube against which the ray impinges and the secondary radiation comes equally from all directions.
"But very slight difference could be noted between noon and midnight. The secondary radiation which is now commonly called cosmic rays is comparably less intense than the primary ray from the sun.
"Of course, there are a number of suns in existence and they probably produce similar activity but so far as we are concerned the effect from our sun is vastly more penetrating."
Electricity Faster Than Light
Another discovery by Dr. Tesla which has been buried in one of his patents for an equal length of time is that electricity travels much faster than the speed of light. This discovery was based on his experimental work at Colorado Springs in 1899 when he built some giant Tesla coils that built up potentials of more than 4,000,000 volts and produced flashes of lightning 15 feet long.
The following very brief summary of this work was dictated by Dr. Tesla:
"Until the Summer of 1899 it was believed that light was propagated faster than any other agent, but in the course of my experiments at Colorado Springs made with a view to determining the laws of the propagation of current through the earth I discovered that the current traversed the globe and returned in one-twelfth of a second and on further investigation I found the velocity was 292,880 miles per second thus making the speed with which the current passed around the earth 57 percent faster than light."
Dr. Tesla has been evolving a method of transmitting power between the planets. He did not wish to make any statements concerning this work as yet but did agree to include a reference to it in answers to a group of related questions.
The discussion was summarized in the following questions and answers dictated by Dr. Tesla:
"Do you think, Mr. Tesla, that the planets exercise any influence on our lives?"
"Most certainly they do, but not in the sense of the astrologers. Practically every disturbance on the sun is manifested in some way on the earth. It is the same situation with regard to the planets. However, distant they are they do have some influence.
"Every human being is a machine of inconceivable delicacy and sensitiveness. It may well be possible that an impulse from a planet may change the course of the life of an individual."
"Do you think that communication with the planets will be brought about?"
Confident of Communication With Planets
"Of this I am fully convinced. In 1899 when Mars was close to the earth I detected by means of an ultra-sensitive instrument that the planet Mars emitted impulses distributed rhythmically, and I announced the fact in 1900. I had hoped that other investigators would confirm my observations, but so far nothing has been done.
"What impressed me with the greatest hope is that I have discovered certain new principles, through the application of which it will be possible to flash from the earth to a planet like Mars energy at the rate of thousands of horsepower. Incredible? Yes, but it is true just the same.
Other Inhabited Planets
"I believe it is impossible that the earth is the only abode of intelligent beings. Undoubtedly there are other inhabited planets in the universe — thousands of them; millions."
I asked if he considered transfer of thoughts between human beings a possibility.
"Before I can answer that," said Dr. Tesla, "I must state that I am absolutely convinced of the truth of the mechanistic theory of life. We are nothing but animistic engines and are guided in our actions by external influences received through our sense organs.
"You will from this understand that a human being cannot be a transmitter, except in a limited sense that he may modify slightly the response of other similar organisms, as when we get interference in wireless reception.
Telepathy Only Coincidence
"Transmission of thought, or telepathy, is impossible because we have no organs which would project disturbances in straight lines. like that of light, and that would be necessary in order that our comprehension of an image can be conveyed. What is called telepathy, and which occurs frequently in life, is merely coincidence."
Dr. Tesla, who is now in his 75th year, seems hardly to have changed appearance in the last quarter of a century. He is tall and slender, of lordly bearing and courtly manner and meticulous in every detail of his appearance. His features are sharp, has a prominent nose and a high forehead. He gives one the impression of being a giant intellect housed in a delicately attuned body. He is unmarried.
