Nikola Tesla, inventor, who died in New York last week, on a 1936 stamp of Yugoslavia.
Nikola Tesla, the Yugoslavian electrical inventor who died in New York last week, was a philatelic familiar. His eightieth birthday in 1936 — he was born on July 10, 1856 — was commemorated with two Yugoslavian stamps which introduced his portrait to the hobby's gallery. Those 75-paras and 1.75-dinar postal items were released six weeks in advance in connection with a scientific festival in the schools in honor of Tesla.
