Tesla was being charged $15.00 per day in rent, an exorbitant amount for the time, while staying at the St. Regis. After not paying anything toward a balance of over $3,000 he ran up over a seven-month period, he was forced to leave. Always seeking lavishness, Tesla moved to the luxurious Hotel Marguery on the west side of Park Ave. between 47th and 48th.
