In 1924 Tesla met the internationally renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović, who became a close friend to Tesla. Tesla later asked Meštrović to create a sculpture of him. Meštrović agreed and initially two bronze busts were created. The first was unveiled by his nephew, Sava Kosanović, at the Technical Museum in Vienna (Technisches Museum, Wien). The second was given to the Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and remains on display to this day.
